That’s what my convention assistant said to me when I told him he has to look after 30 fabric mochis so that they don’t bounce out the window!
*insert “Benny Hill” music while he runs*
This rascal and I will be at SunnyCon 2 in Sunderland next weekend on the 23rd-24th March. I’ll have the usual: art prints in A3, A4 and 6”x4” sizes, pillows, “Party Pirate” T-shirts, my comic “Claws & Wren: The Spacehopper” and lots of fabric character mochis! 5 days left to get ready in…tempted to do what little Captain Arthur Kirkland is doing in this gif right now…
I made these two images for a fan-made Anthology at the USUK Livejournal community. I can’t show the full pictures until the Anthology is out, but I can show previews! Now I’m off to recover from being sat in front of a computer for 11 hours straight…
The seventh plushie I’ve made - “Britannia Angel” from Axis Powers Hetalia. (It’s UK as an angel, he appears this way in one of Himaruya Hidekaz’s online comic strips. You can find a translated version into English here: http://www.hetarchive.net/scanlations/nonlinear.php?tns)
Title: Great Britain
Alternatively: “The Great British Empire will see you now. If you have a problem with my unicorn, then GTFO!”
"Let’s have a kickabout! Play with me?"
After seeing all the shops at home filled with clothes, accessories and goodies with the Union Flag on them, I just had to make a doll of UK and dress him up in the little treasures I collected! He stands at 20 inches tall, and I named him “Cool Britannia” to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and London hosting the Olympics this year (fingers crossed that it all goes well)!
The doll is hand-made from fleece fabric (upper body), synthetic fur (hair), polyester stuffing and Craft Velour fabric (lower body).
The clothes and all the accessories were purchased from various shops in the UK and customised with glitter stickers and Union Flag ribbon. It isn’t in the pictures, but I also added a pretty, silver functioning pocket watch that also has the Union Flag on the watch-face.
This plush doll has been sold and found a loving home!
UK in his Cool Britannia outfit, minus sunglasses! He’ll be at London MCM Expo tomorrow (Saturday) with me.
Pirate UK has met some amazing people on his travels to conventions in his homeland. The voice actresses and actors from FUNimation are no exception! We met Caitlin and Tia at Alcon 2011, they gave a really entertaining and enlightening panel to a lecture room full of eager fans. We met Vic Mignona briefly at MCM London Expo in October 2011, he was very sweet and charming! Who will he meet next? He’ll be off to SunnyCon in Sunderland, 24-25th March 2012.
Here is a detailed image of my hand-made “Pirate England/UK” doll - my personal Convention Assistant (attention seeker), Treasurer to my riches (nicks my jewellery) and companion to the Pilot America doll (loves to show his affection for his dear “play-mate” by shoving him off the chair they sit on!)!
Pirate UK has his own ask blog now here on Tumblr at: http://askpirateukplush.tumblr.com/ Ask him a question in the Ask box and he’ll answer with either a photograph or a drawing!
